Ever walked down a city street and had the wind gushing down at you? What happens when you get to the corners of buildings? Do you find the wind whips up into a spiral? Well this is what happens to chi when it follows edges. Edges To prevent this whip up of chi the edges simply need to be softened with plants and fabric for example. Pointing furniture edges can make people feel uncomfortable. Simply place a plant in front of the offending corner and this will dull the shot of chi. Corners Corners of rooms are often dark and stagnant. To enliven a corner, a simple colourful feature could be placed (Hale, 1999, p.60). For example,
some silk flowers, a plant, a water feature or simply a table with a lamp
on it. The object needs to support the elemental phase that the corner
exists in. (You can calculate these in the 'Chi & You - Personal Calculator'
section).
