Adults spend
a third of their life in the bedroom, and children and teenagers often
spend more time in them. Therefore bedrooms are considered one of the
most important rooms of the house in Feng Shui (Hale, 1999, p.100)
- Beds
should be raised off the floor to allow air circulation underneath.
Clean out all those old piles of magazines and old clothes.
- A bed should be supported by a wall from behind. If supported by a
window this can feel insecure and let in draughts disturbing sleep.
- The bed should have equal and ample room beside it. This allows a
balanced relationship and sleep.
- When
lying in bed, the top of your head should be pointing in one of your
beneficial directions (your beneficial directions can be calculated
in the 'Chi & You- Placement Calculator section' of this web site).
- The best
bed position is diagonally opposite the door. This is the best vantage
point to see when an unexpected visitor enters. If this is not possible,
a mirror should be positioned to see the door from where you lie in
bed.
Furnishings
- Images
and ornaments should be in pairs, especially in the relationship corner
of the room (calculate your relationship section in 'Chi & You -
Placement Calculator'). This symbolises unity and love. If you lying
in bed and saw a picture of a single person, instead of two partners,
how would that make you feel?
- Books, computers and anything else that makes you think of work and
mental activity should be moved out of site in the bedroom.
